In Loving Memory of Jordyn Forrestier and Noely Makenda Orange Park, Florida
The Orange Park community is mourning an unimaginable loss following a tragic act of violence that claimed the lives of two young women who served their country with honor and dedication. On the night of December 17, 2025, a heartbreaking incident unfolded in the 4400 block of Hanging Moss Drive, leaving families, friends, fellow service members, and an entire community devastated.
At approximately 11:20 p.m., deputies responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting gunfire at the residence. When authorities arrived, they discovered two young women deceased in the front yard, both having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were later identified as 20-year-old Jordyn Forrestier and 21-year-old Noely Makenda.
Jordyn and Noely were more than victims of a senseless act—they were roommates, shipmates, and proud members of the United States Navy, united by service, discipline, and a shared commitment to something greater than themselves. They were young, full of promise, and standing at the beginning of lives meant to be defined by growth, purpose, and achievement.
Investigators determined that the suspect, 22-year-old Taylor Lomax, also lived at the residence and served in the Navy alongside the victims. According to authorities, Lomax’s wife arrived at the home that evening to visit her husband. What began as a verbal argument between her and the roommates escalated into a physical altercation in the front yard. In a moment of irreversible violence, Lomax retrieved a handgun and fired approximately 30 rounds, fatally striking both Jordyn and Noely multiple times. Lomax’s wife immediately contacted 9-1-1 following the shooting.
Lomax was taken into custody at the scene and later charged with two counts of Second-Degree Murder. His wife was interviewed and released. While the legal process moves forward, it cannot undo the profound loss suffered by those who loved Jordyn and Noely.
Today, hearts are heavy with grief. Families are left to mourn daughters taken far too soon. Friends are struggling to comprehend how laughter, shared dreams, and everyday moments could be stolen in an instant. Fellow sailors grieve the loss of teammates who stood beside them in service, wearing the same uniform, believing in the same mission.
Jordyn Forrestier will be remembered for her youth, her courage, and the life she was building through service to her country. Noely Makenda will be remembered for her strength, her dedication, and the future she deserved to live. Their lives mattered. Their stories mattered. And their memories will endure far beyond this tragedy.
As the Orange Park community grieves, there is a shared call for compassion, reflection, and remembrance. This tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the devastating consequences of violence and the importance of resolving conflict without harm.
Authorities encourage anyone with additional information related to this incident to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 264-6512, or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app referencing case number 2025028638.
