Active Shooter Reported at Delaware DMV in Minquadale
Authorities are responding to an active shooter incident at the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) facility on Hessler Boulevard in the Minquadale area of New Castle County, according to emergency dispatch communications and preliminary reports.
Initial calls came in around 2:00 p.m., reporting a shooter at the DMV. Early reports indicated that two individuals were down at the scene. EMS confirmed that CPR was in progress on two patients, one of whom was believed to be the suspected shooter. Shortly afterward, two additional non-trauma medical cases were reported, including a person who fell and another experiencing breathing difficulties.
Unconfirmed law enforcement sources indicated that both the suspected shooter and at least one officer were shot. Some reports suggested that a state trooper and a county officer were involved, with at least one officer sustaining a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities have not officially confirmed identities or conditions, and the situation remains active and fluid.
Police, fire, and rescue teams remain on site. The Wilmington DMV location has been closed indefinitely, and all services there have been suspended. Motorists are being directed to the Delaware City DMV. Hessler Boulevard is closed, and portions of Route 13 south of Interstate 495 are also restricted.
Officials have not released confirmed details on the shooting, the number of victims, or injuries. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid the area, and rely on official sources for updates. Authorities say more information will be provided as the investigation continues, emphasizing public safety while emergency personnel secure the scene.
