In Loving Memory of Christopher Polite and Anthony Nelson
CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — The Clarendon County community is mourning the tragic loss of two lives following a devastating crash early Sunday morning. Authorities have confirmed that 36-year-old Christopher Polite of Charlotte, North Carolina, and 45-year-old Anthony Nelson of Manning, S.C., died at the scene of the accident.
According to Master Trooper William Bennett of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 1 a.m. on Plowden Mill Road near Wateree Road, north of Alcolu. A 2014 Dodge Challenger, traveling northbound on Plowden Mill Road, struck a 2018 Honda Accord that was stationary across the lane. While the occupants of the Dodge escaped with non-life-threatening injuries, the crash proved fatal for the driver and passenger of the Honda.
Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the victims and confirmed that autopsies are scheduled at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston later this week. As families, friends, and the community grapple with the shock and sorrow of this sudden loss, thoughts and prayers are being extended to all affected by the tragedy.
Christopher Polite and Anthony Nelson will be remembered not only for their presence in the lives of their loved ones but also for the moments they shared with family, friends, and community members. Their sudden passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the memories of their kindness, laughter, and contributions to those around them will endure.
The Clarendon County community extends its deepest condolences to the families during this incredibly difficult time. May Christopher and Anthony rest in peace, and may their loved ones find strength and comfort in the support of those around them.
