In Loving Memory of Joshua Mariscal, Jr. and a Life Gone Too Soon

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we remember the lives lost in a tragic shooting on Tucson’s south side Saturday night—20-year-old Joshua Mariscal, Jr., and a 17-year-old young man whose name is being respectfully withheld. Their sudden passing has left families shattered, friends grieving, and a community struggling to comprehend the loss of two young lives taken far too soon.

According to the Tucson Police Department, the incident occurred just after 8:00 p.m. in the 3500 block of South Naco Vista. Authorities report that Joshua and the teenager traveled to the area to meet unknown individuals. After a brief interaction, gunfire erupted, and both young men were struck. Witnesses heard the shots and immediately called 911. Despite the rapid response of emergency crews, Joshua and the teen were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the pain left behind is undeniable. Joshua Mariscal, Jr. was a young man with dreams ahead of him, a future still unfolding, and loved ones who believed in him.
