According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 23 and Ben Hatcher Road. Deputies reported that a vehicle traveling westbound on Ben Hatcher Road failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with the side of a southbound tractor-trailer on Highway 23. Max Bowersox suffered severe injuries as a result of the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
