In Loving Memory of Matthew Zens

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Matthew Zens, a 40-year-old man from St. Francis whose life came to a tragic and heartbreaking end in late December 2025. Matthew’s passing has left his family, friends, and community mourning the loss of a life that mattered deeply and will not be forgotten.

On December 28, 2025, the St. Francis Police Department issued a Green Alert, indicating concern for Matthew’s safety as he was believed to be in crisis. The alert reflected the seriousness of the situation and the hope that he would be located safely. Loved ones and community members waited anxiously for news, holding on to the possibility of a positive outcome.

Tragically, on December 29, 2025, officers with the West Bend Police Department located the vehicle Matthew was reported to be driving in the Walmart parking lot in the City of West Bend. At approximately 6:18 p.m., Matthew was found deceased inside the vehicle. The discovery brought devastating news to those who had been praying for his safe return.

Law enforcement agencies, including the West Bend Police Department and the St. Francis Police Department, continue to work together as the investigation remains active. Authorities have stated there is no danger to the public. While the investigation continues, the focus for many now turns to honoring Matthew’s life and supporting those left behind.

Matthew Zens was more than the circumstances of his passing. He was a son, a friend, and a human being deserving of compassion, understanding, and remembrance. His death is a sobering reminder of the importance of mental health awareness, community support, and kindness toward those who may be struggling in silence.
