In Loving Memory of Three Teen Boys Lost in a Tragic South Florida Crash
It is with profound sadness that we remember the lives of three young teenagers who tragically lost their lives in a devastating traffic accident in Pompano Beach, Florida, on Monday night. The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that the fatal crash occurred around 7 p.m. on North Federal Highway near a local shopping plaza, claiming the lives of three boys traveling in a BMW. Their untimely deaths are a heartbreaking loss to their families, friends, and the community.
According to authorities, the crash involved a 2024 Acura Integra and a 2014 white BMW M5. The driver of the Acura, 18-year-old Richard Alcocer, was attempting to turn right out of the shopping plaza onto North Federal Highway when, for reasons still under investigation, he struck a raised concrete curb in the center median. This caused him to lose control of the vehicle and collide with the BMW, which then rotated clockwise across the roadway. The BMW ultimately crashed into a Broward County Transit bus stop before striking a concrete light pole and a tree.
Emergency crews, including deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel, responded immediately. The three teenage boys in the BMW—identified as Miguel Montez, 16, Ruben Baltazar, 15, and another teen whose identity has not been released—were extricated from the wreckage and transported to Broward Health North. Tragically, all three were pronounced dead at the hospital.
BSO officials have noted that preliminary findings suggest speeding may have been a contributing factor in the accident, though the investigation remains ongoing. The impact of this loss is immeasurable, leaving families, friends, and the wider Pompano Beach community in mourning.
As we reflect on this tragedy, we remember the vibrant lives of these young boys, cut far too short. Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. May their souls rest in peace, and may those who loved them find strength and comfort in the memories they shared.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of safety on our roads. In honor of Miguel, Ruben, and their friend, we ask the community to keep their families in thoughts and prayers as they navigate the unimaginable grief of losing three bright young lives in an instant.
