In Loving Memory — Remembering the Lives Touched by the December 8th Fatal Crash
On the night of December 8, 2025, a devastating collision shattered the quiet of Odessa as first responders rushed to the intersection of 42nd Street and Andrews Highway. At approximately 11:09 p.m., officers with the Odessa Police Department were dispatched to what would soon be confirmed as a major crash—one that would leave families grieving, lives forever changed, and a community reflecting on
Fatal Crash 12-8-25 at approximately 11:09pm, OPD responded to 42nd and Andrews Highway in reference to a major crash. Investigation revealed that a blue Ford Mustang, being operated by 21-year-old Nathan Montoya, was traveling eastbound on 42nd St. A white Mazda MPV, being operated by 39-year-old Nalleli Waldron, was traveling northbound on Andrews Highway. The passenger of the Mazda was identified as 47-year-old Frederick Rodriguez.
Investigation revealed that Waldron ran the red light at a high rate of speed and struck the Mustang. Waldron was transported to MCH and later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Next of kin have been notified. Rodriguez was transported to MCH with life-threatening injuries. Montoya was transported to MCH with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
