In Loving Memory of Lorraine Knox

WINDSOR, Maine — The Windsor community is mourning the loss of 77-year-old Lorraine Knox, who tragically lost her life in a house fire Monday evening. The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office has launched an investigation into the fatal fire that consumed her home at 489 Ridge Road.

According to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, Windsor firefighters arrived at the residence shortly before 6 p.m. to find heavy flames and smoke billowing from the home. Crews on the scene reported indications that someone might still be inside and immediately called state fire investigators for assistance.

During a coordinated search, firefighters and investigators discovered the body of a woman believed to be Lorraine Knox. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to confirm her identity and determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities noted that Knox had recently been experiencing issues with her home’s furnace and had been using electric heaters to stay warm during the recent cold weather. While investigators have not made an official determination regarding the cause of the fire, the circumstances remain under thorough review as the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office continues its investigation.

Fire crews remained at the scene for several hours, working to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to gather information on what may have sparked the blaze.

Friends and neighbors remember Lorraine Knox as a longtime Windsor resident whose presence in the community was cherished. “She was always kind and welcoming,” said a neighbor. “This is a heartbreaking loss for everyone who knew her.”

The Windsor community extends its deepest condolences to Lorraine Knox’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Further updates will be provided as investigators continue their work to determine the cause of the devastating fire.
