De Soto, MO — The De Soto community is grieving the tragic loss of 65-year-old Kent Allen Rinearman, who was found deceased in a mobile home fire early Tuesday morning, November 25, 2025, south of Hillsboro. The news has left friends, family, and neighbors in profound shock as they struggle to come to terms with a life extinguished so suddenly under devastating circumstances.
Kent was more than the details of this tragic event. He was a cherished member of the community, remembered for his quiet strength, warm spirit, and the moments of kindness he shared with those around him. Though the fire has left his home destroyed, the memories of Kent’s life—his laughter, his generosity, and the presence he brought to others—remain unscathed and will forever be treasured by those who knew him.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Kent was found in a bedroom of the mobile home on the 11700 block of Castle Ranch Road. Firefighters from multiple districts, including Hillsboro Fire, De Soto Fire Department, De Soto Rural, Antonia, and Hematite fire districts, worked tirelessly to control the blaze, with assistance from Valle Ambulance and Jefferson County 911 Dispatch. The fire was reported at approximately 2:25 a.m., and the first engine arrived at 2:36 a.m., finding the mobile home fully involved. Despite the dangerous conditions, firefighters courageously entered the home and discovered Kent, who tragically could not be saved. The fire was under control roughly 30 minutes after arrival, but the mobile home was destroyed.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office continues to work to determine the official cause of Kent’s death. While investigators have stated that no foul play is suspected, the exact circumstances surrounding the fire remain under investigation, with assistance from the Missouri State Fire Marshal and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. It is believed that no one else lived in the home, and fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
Kent’s life was one of quiet dedication and connection. He was a neighbor, friend, and member of the De Soto-area community who left behind a legacy of simple but meaningful human kindness.
