In Loving Memory of Simito

The Bonny Eagle community and all of Cumberland County are mourning an unimaginable loss following a tragic crash Tuesday morning involving a school bus and a student. Authorities with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that the child, identified as Simito, has died. What should have been an ordinary morning—filled with routine, learning, and promise—was instead forever altered by a heartbreaking event that has left a community in shock and sorrow.

The crash occurred on Northeast Road in Standish, leading to the closure of the roadway between Route 114 and Moody Road as emergency crews responded and investigators worked the scene. In those moments, time seemed to stand still for families, classmates, teachers, and neighbors who awaited answers, hoping against hope for a different outcome. The news that followed brought profound grief, reverberating far beyond the immediate area.

Simito’s life, though far too short, carried meaning and light. To family, Simito was deeply loved—cherished for their smile, their curiosity, and the unique spirit they brought into the world. To classmates and teachers, Simito was a presence in the school community, part of the shared daily rhythm of learning, friendships, and growth. The loss of a child is a pain beyond words, and the absence left behind is felt in hallways, classrooms, and homes alike.

As the Bonny Eagle School District grieves, so too does the wider community, united in compassion and support. Vigils, quiet prayers, and shared tears reflect a collective resolve to honor Simito’s memory with kindness, care, and remembrance. In moments like these, communities are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of holding one another close.

Our hearts go out to Simito’s family, whose world has been changed forever. We extend our deepest condolences to loved ones, friends, educators, first responders, and all who are affected by this tragedy. May they find strength in one another and comfort in the outpouring of love that surrounds them.

Simito will be remembered not for the tragedy that took their life, but for the life they lived and the joy they brought to those who knew them. May Simito rest in peace, and may their memory forever remain a blessing.
