Investigation Underway After Woman Found Dead Near Gas Well Road in Millard
Authorities are investigating after a woman was found deceased in the Millard community, prompting questions and concern from local residents. According to Pike County Coroner Kevin Hall, the incident occurred on December 9, when employees with Diversified Energy discovered the body near a gas well road off Biggs Branch at Millard.
Hall reported that the employees immediately contacted the Kentucky State Police, who were the first law enforcement agency to respond to the scene. Upon assessing the situation, KSP reached out to the Pike County Coroner’s Office for further assistance and formal identification of the deceased.
The woman was identified as 53-year-old Valarie McPeek. At this stage of the investigation, Hall stated that no cause of death has yet been determined, and while toxicology and further examination are pending, foul play is not suspected at this time.
Officials emphasize that the case is still under active investigation by the Kentucky State Police, who are working to piece together a clear timeline and determine the circumstances that led to McPeek’s death.
